A Journey of Passion for Fabric Design
Amber is from upstate New York, where her fashion journey began working her first job at a fabric store. It was here where she began to dream up the endless possibilities of artwork that could be made with fabric. Being an avid music lover, Amber took these ideas to the road, following a band she loved, and set up in parking lots across the country selling her handmade items. After high school, Amber moved to California to attend Humboldt State University. However, she transitioned back to New York to finish her fashion education.
With a degree in Fashion Design from Syracuse University, Amber worked in the NYC fashion district with larger design companies like Madewell, Jcrew, and John Varvatos. And in 2004, Amber started her own apparel line, Miso Designs. Her creations from Miso Designs sold in stores throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Eventually, Amber’s entrepreneurial spirit led her back to California to design, open, and operate Suki boutique in Eureka. At Suki, Amber continued to sell Miso Designs and did alterations out of the store.

After having her daughter, Presley, Amber closed Suki and moved to Sonoma. She began to immerse herself in learning the trade of upholstery design. She studied for several years under Simon Eilenkrig at City College of San Francisco. Today, signature stenciling is a feature of Amber’s furniture, and she often uses reclaimed materials for her custom chairs and ottomans.
